I have an idea for my research project that I am quite fond of. I am in the process of working on my proposal and am nervous that my idea will be rejected because it might not be deemed risky. I live by the Jersey Shore and although Wall is a beach town, I never spent much time there. I just wasn’t a beach person. The summer of 2011 changed that. I don’t want to give too much away now because it will be repeated in my proposal, but I want the restoration of the shore to be the centerpiece of my project. However, I don’t want to just write about the reconstruction. I want to tell the story about people who were devastated by Hurricane Sandy in a different way–they were robbed of their memories. I myself have experienced many life changing things at the shore and I know that many lives, for better or for worse, are tied to those sandy beaches. I want to write a short story that weaves everything together. Thoughts?
