Dec/Jan NaNoWriMo 2014 Day 4: Post-Christmas Blues

Hey guys!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I know I did. I received a lot of great books for Christmas that I can’t wait to read (but that’s a post for another day). I said in my last update that I wanted to double my word count goal because I did not write on Christmas. So, instead of writing the usual 1,667 words, I wanted to write 3,334 words. However, I only managed 2,268 words. I blame it on the post-Christmas blues.

So here is my current status:

Word Count Goal: 8,335

Words Written: 7,946

I’m only trailing by 389 words, which I can easily makeup during tomorrow’s writing session.

So I don’t know about you, but I am experiencing a post-Christmas depression. I love this time of year, and the build up to Christmas is part of the fun. However, now that it is over, I feel sad. I know we still have the New Year to celebrate, but there’s just something about the Christmas season that really makes me feel incredible and happy. I know the Depression will soon pass, but right now it is hard to get through.

As part of the healing process, I indulged in a little retail therapy, buying books with gift cards I got for Christmas. I purchased the following titles: “The Princess Bride,” by William Goldman, “Throne of Glass” by Sarah J. Maas, “The Darkest Minds” by Alexandra Bracken, “Eleanor and Park” by Rainbow Rowell and a writing book called “Writing New Adult Fiction.” I can’t wait to dive into those books, especially “Throne of Glass” which I heard amazing things about.

How did you guys celebrate the holidays? Did you get any good books? If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Until next time!
