Dec/Jan NaNoWriMo 2014 Day 7: Scrivener

Hey everyone!

Okay, so I did not expect to write so many words, but I was super inspired by my writing session the night before. I really love my story and cannot wait to continue writing it. Check out my stats below:

Word Count Goal: 13, 336

Words Written: 15, 430

Today, I wrote 3,727 words, which is more than twice what I was aiming to write. This is the part of the writing process that I love, falling in love with the story and the characters. I seriously cannot wait to continue writing. If I get all my chores done today, I might write a couple hundred more words before bedtime.

Anyway, for today’s post, I wanted to talk about Scrivener. I recently discovered this word processing software and I have to say, I love it. It’s much easier to use than Microsoft Word, especially if you like to outline stories like me. Scrivener has a variety of templates for every kind of writing including novels, short stories, poetry and screenplays.

I love how Scrivener allows me to break my story into sections. This helps me keep focused on specific chapters rather than worrying about my story as a whole. It is much easier to write this way than it is on Microsoft Word.

I am still learning how to use Scrivener. There are so many features that I have not tested out yet.

You can download a 30-day free trial of Scrivener here. Is anyone out there fans of the software? Is there writing software out there that is better? Drop me a comment.

Keep writing and slaying those dragons,

Until next time!
