New Year, New Blog

Hello everyone! Well…it’s been a while. I thought about doing this last year, but there was a little thing called 2020 that got in the way. But, that’s in the past and we are now in 2021! And with the start of a new year comes new resolutions.

This blog has undergone many changes since its inception. In the last few months of the Year That Shall Be Named, I thought long and hard about what direction I wanted to take this blog in. Should I do book reviews? Give writing advice? Maybe I could chronicle the long and winding journey to completing my debut novel. Well, I have decided to do all of those things.

Having a blog is really important to me. It allows me to record my thoughts and feelings as I work on my novel. Because, as any writer knows, the best part of the story is watching the hero overcome the obstacles in their way. And when you are writing a novel (or a short story, or a poem), the problems are abundant. But at least I won’t be alone. I will get to share all of my ups and downs with you guys!

So, to kick of 2021 and the new reincarnation of the this blog, I am going to make some writing resolutions that I hope to complete by the end of the year.

  1. I want to complete drafts three and four of my novel. In a few weeks, I will be chronicling climbing the Everest that is the third draft of my novel. Hopefully, if all goes well, I can squeeze in a fourth draft as well.
  2. I want to get at least one piece published this year. An early Christmas gift arrived for my this past December in the form of an acceptance letter. My short story “A League of Her Own,” will be published in the upcoming issue of Aethlon: Journal of Sports Literature. I would like to get at least one more piece published by the end of the year.
  3. I want to build up this blog. It is important to me that I carve out some time each week to develop this blog. Over the next month, I plan on adding many other pages and features for you all to enjoy.

In the meantime, you can follow me on Twitter and check me out on Scribophile if you have an account.

I just posted a page of some poems I have written over the years. I would love it if you could check out the poems and leave a comment.

I am looking forward to interacting with all of you on this adventure.

Kill your darlings, slay your dragons, and keep writing!
