Hello everyone! Another week and another writing update!

Whew! It feels like it’s been a month since my last update, not seven days. The past week has felt like a month, thanks to new stresses and pressures at work. I have come home exhausted everyday. But nevertheless, I have still made time for writing.

This week, I finished listing all of my novel settings and making profiles on them. I am hoping that this streamlines the writing process when I begin my third draft later this week. I used the template that Scrivner provides, which asks you to think about more than just the description. In order to make your setting come alive, you need to include all five senses. This forced me to be more creative, to really develop these settings so they become a significant part of the story.

After completing the setting profiles, I began the outlining process. Thanks to the character work I did in the past, this outline who quite easy to complete, as I already worked out many of the details. I fleshed out some areas, but am purposely being brief. I want the story to breathe when I write it. Planning every single detail takes some of the fun out of it. I plan on finishing the outline at some point tomorrow.

Then, my next order of business is to work on a timeline. I need to nail down when things take place and work on the pace of events. This should take me until the end of the week. At that point, I hope to begin writing the third draft.

Please let me know how your projects are going. Until next time, kill your darlings, slay your dragons, and keep writing.
