Tunes Tuesday #3: Kelly Clarkson

I always find it interesting when a new song is released and it aligns perfectly with my current work in progress. It was like the artist purposely wrote that song for my characters, as if they had early access to my manuscript and were inspired by what they read. One such song is “I Don’t Think About You,” by Kelly Clarkson.

Released in 2017, the second single from Clarkson’s album Meaning of Life, is a definitive anthem for learning to love yourself. For overcoming your mistakes and the struggles you’ve faced on the path to self discovery. I cannot think of a better song that encapsulates my female protagonist’s journey than “I Don’t Think About You.” From Clarkson’s perfect delivery to the raw lyrics, I sometimes imagine my female character singing this at the climax of the novel when she finally comes into her own.

One day, if I ever get lucky enough for there to be a movie based on my novel, I would love this song to be on the soundtrack. You can give it a listen below.

Until next time, kill your darlings, slay your dragons, and keep writing!
