Whew! What a week!
Between unexpected snow days, a shifting schedule, that pesky groundhog seeing his shadow, and a troublesome chapter, I found it quite difficult to keep up with my routine for this week. However, I did manage to get some good writing done.
Last week, I told you that I had finished creating a timeline for my novel and that I was going to start writing draft three. Well, I am three chapters in and I would be lying if I said that everything was going smoothly. The first two chapters were quite painless. But chapter three…well, let’s just say chapter three and I are not on good terms right now. After days of toiling away, I have a draft of the chapter. But I know that it is one I will need to do significant revisions on before draft three of my novel is complete.
The reason why this was so difficult is because I have to convey a lot of information in a short period of time. And that information comes mainly through description which is something I struggle with. I plan to spend the weekend tweaking the chapter before moving on. I don’t want to dwell on it for much longer because I don’t want to lose story momentum. I may come back to it when I finish Act 1.
Have any of you hit speed bumps in your writing projects? Please let me know.
Until next time, kill your darlings, slay your dragons, and keep writing!
