Hello everyone! I did it! I finished drafting Act 1. The final chapter in Act 1, Chapter 15, is awful, but it is down on paper. Now the next step is to revise the act before moving onto Act 2. I wrote Act 1 over such a fragmented period of time that I find much of the writing to be disjoined. At this point, I am not looking for perfection. I just want to make the writing more cohesive. This will reduce the amount of editing I have to do later.
Before I begin editing Act 1, I plan on reading the chapters and making notes. These notes will help guide me through the revision process. It is my goal to get the revision process done by the end of June at the latest so I can spend the summer working on the other parts of the novel.
However, I am not going to even touch Act 1 until I revise a flash fiction piece I wrote long ago. In my previous posts, I mentioned that I was sending my six-word stories out on submission. Several magazines have rejected them and since it looks like it may be a long time before I finish draft 3 of my novel, I have decided that now is the time to revise a flash fiction piece I wrote a while back. I am hoping to have it completely revised by the end of next week so I can post it on Scribophile for feedback the following weekend. Then, I can fully dive into revisions of my novel.
I hope your writing is going next well. Until next time, kill your darlings, slay your dragons, and keep writing.
