Hello everyone! So, it’s been a hot second since I’ve updated. This past week has been one of the busiest in recent memory. In addition to my work obligations, I was in charge of taking care of our house while my fiancé is away, requiring much travel on my part. However, that doesn’t mean I didn’t get any writing done. Through a mix of voice recording and notes on my phone, I was able to piece together some ideas that I have for the novel going forward.
In the midst of brainstorming chapter 3, I started thinking about the final scene of the novel. I had an idea for the ending for quite some time, but the last scene was always an enigma. For me, when I vividly picture the ending, I know I have a fully realized idea. Part of the reason I focused on drafting out the final scene is because it mirrors a scene that happens in chapter 3. I wanted to show growth for my protagonist and the mirroring of the scenes is a great way to do that.
I have a vague idea of what I want to do with chapter 3. I may sketch it out today to give myself a roadmap moving forward.
To be honest, one of the reasons I’ve been distracted is because Taylor Swift just dropped Red (Taylor’s Version) and I cannot stop listening to “All Too Well (Ten Minute Version).” It is a masterpiece of storytelling and I am consistently enamored by how talented Taylor Swift is. Seriously, with every release she manages to top herself. I only hope that one day, I could have a fraction of her talent.
The upcoming week looks to be normal. To help me get back on track with my writing, I want to create a schedule for myself, so I can continue getting a little bit of writing done every day. Updates should be more frequent. Fingers crossed!
Until next time, kill your darling, slay your dragons, and keep writing!
